The Botanical Garden of Ferrara is located in Via Corso Porta Mare, 2B in Ferrara.
The Botanical Garden of Ferrara is a building open to the audience, located in Palazzo Turchi di Bagno's garden. Free guided tours are plannes (in the normal opening times) and guided tours with fee (available upon order and in times that have to be planned each time).
The route among the flowerbeds is made up of paved walkway (1 metre wides) and clay court paths (tighter). The paved walkway can be crossed also by disabled people on a wheelchair in any weather condition. The clay court paths are not walkable with wheelchair because their too tight. Walking on the paved walkway all the expository sectors can be visited and also watch the greenhouses from outside.
The main entrance boulevard (entrance by Corso Porta Mare 2B) is a little clay court and gravel road, which is around 120 metres long and around 3 metres wide. With good weather condition, the boulevard can be crossed also on wheelchairs. In case of heavy rain, the little road is filled up of puddles and it becomes hard to cross for people with motor disabilities.
The greenhouses can be visited imside but just partially (from May to September). The huge central greenhouse is visitable also by people on wheelchair.
Every expository sector are provided of signs with both italian and english explanations. There are no braille signs.
In the Botanical Garden there are not refreshment points. The visitors' toilet is tiny and not suitable for people with motor disabilities. In the next Palazzo Turchi di Bagno there are toilet facilities recently restructured and usable by disabled people, too.
The entry to the Herbarium is located in Corso Ercole I d'Este, 32 in Ferrara.
The Herbarium is located at the third floor of Palazzo Turchi di Bagno and it can be visited just in case of guided tours prior reservation (maximum 20 people per visit). The elevator that brings to the Herbarium can be used also by visitors, but it is too tight for wheelchairs.
In the Herbarium are showed plants model and dried plants that can be closely watched but not touched. For blind people and vision-impaired people it is possible to organise specific guided tours using teaching material that can also be touched.
Toilet facilities for disabled people are at the ground flor of Palazzo Turchi Di Bagno.
