Comacchio's Valleys
The most extended humid area of Italy
Comacchio's Valleys represent one of the most extended humid areas of Italy and they are sited inside Po Delta Park.
This brackish water territory has been declared Wetland of international importance, Site of Common Interest by EU and Special Protection Area for birds' preservation.
There are tens of birds' species that here find refuge, among which there is pink flamingo, that chose this site as location for the big colony, one of the few in Europe.
Many are the activities and excursions you can do on boat, walking and by bike in Comacchio's Valleys, discovering a unique ecosystem where man's activities integrate perfectly in natural ones.
From the traditional “lavoriero” for eels' fishing, to the ancient Comacchio's Saltworks, system realized in Napoleonic age for salt production.
