The Po River, first Italian river for lenght, extension and capacity, is the main rivel flow that brushes the province of Ferrara in the North, it goes through it from West to East and marks the borders with the province of Rovigo and Veneto region.
Until the XII century, the Po river's main arm went through the city of Ferrara, but then, at Ficarolo's break, it happened the movement of the main bed, which now flows in the north of the city.
Po river brushes the province of Ferrara's territory from Bondeno to Goro, going through different towns where is particularly strong the bond between people and river; in Ro Ferrarese, for instance, you can visit the Mill on the Po, an accurate reproduction of the many mills along the river tens year ago.
Po on Ferrara's territory is divided into different amrs, as for example Volano's Po, the ancient main arma of Po river, which still flows through the city of Ferrara and which, through the city dock, allows to navigate from the city center to the main river. Another important arm is the Goro's Po, the first and most extended arm that, together with the others, forms the current Po Delta.
